The Design Practice Research Lab (http://designpracticeresearch.com/) at The School of Design & Human Engineering (http://dhe.unist.ac.kr/ ), UNIST has two vacancies for fully funded Ph.D. positions.
The Design Practice Research lab’s (dpr.lab) primary focus is the investigation of designerly knowledge, skills, thinking, methods and strategies as object of study. Current and future directions include emergent technologies and working cultures (FabLab) and the influence of design for developing economies on working methods and practices. Outcomes contribute to expanding design knowledge (fundamental) and informing the practices of design (applied).
We are looking for highly motivated doctoral candidates with an interest in design practices, digital design tools and methods and/or sustainable design practice. Together with research methods courses, the candidates will be expected to define and conduct a doctoral study in an area closely related to the Lab’s research focus.
Requirements
– English proficiency test*: TOEFL iBT 80, or TOEIC 800, or equivalent (classes and research 100% English)
– Applicants with a Master’s degree in industrial/Product Design or related field (or who will be awarded a Master’s Degree by February 2015)
*Exempt for applicants with English as native language
Scholarship Details
– Full funded tuition and fees – RA/TA Scholarship & Stipend: 1,340,000KRW / month (14,880,000 / year)
