A postdoctoral research fellow in the field of optoelectronics is available within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore. The research project involves fabrication and measurement of pulsed high power vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays. The candidate should have cleanroom fabrication experience, and be familiar with semiconductor fabrication processes, such as dry and wet etching, metal evaporation, lithography, oxidation, electron microscopy, etc. Although epitaxial crystal growth is not anticipated in this project, the candidate should generally understand how semiconductor lasers are designed and fabricated. Prior experience in putting together measurement setups (on an optical table, for instance) is highly desirable, as is prior experience safely working with or characterizing infrared lasers.
The project will present ample opportunities for publication of research results and attendance at international conferences is possible to further advance the career interests of the postdoctoral research fellow. The working environment will primarily be laboratories within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Potential candidates are encouraged to browse the research group’s website at http://www.ece.nus.edu.sg/stfpage/eleadj/ to get a clearer understanding of the group’s other ongoing research activities. Salary will be internationally competitive, and will be commensurate with experience and relevance of skillset to this particular project.
