The Institute for Theoretical Physics of Goethe University Frankfurt invites applications for the following positon of a

Postdoc (m/f/d) (E13 TV-G-U)
or a
PhD student (m/f/d) (E 13 TV-G-U 50% part time)

available starting from 01.03.2023. The duration of the contract will be initially for three years. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U).

Prerequisite for the application is a completed PhD in Physics and a Master’s degree in Physics with a thesis in the field of quantum many-body theory, for example in the theory of condensed matter or theoretical quantum optics for the Postdoc position and a Master’s degree in Physics with a thesis in the field of quantum many-body theory, for example in the theory of condensed matter or theoretical quantum optics for the PhD student position.

The successful candidate should have a strong research background in one or several of the following areas: quantum manybody systems, in particular quantum phases of ultracold atoms, numerical simulation techniques for strongly interacting quantum many-body systems, strongly correlated electron systems. It is expected that the candidate shows special commitment to teaching and has the ability to work independently in scientific research.

Knowledge of the German language is not essential but advantageous, and the successful candidate is expected to learn German or to improve his*her language skills.
