Position Description

Precision Engineering Lab (PEL, Dr. ChaBum Lee’s Group)
https://sites.google.com/site/precisionengineeringlab/

The PEL group is pursuing the research to understand fundamental principles in multidisciplinary discipline subjects and create next generation manufacturing methods and processes by using our core knowledge in manufacturing, precision engineering, metrology, mechatronics, and optics and academia and industry experiences. Our primary academic interests are developing precision engineering-inspired approaches to manufacturing and metrology and, reciprocally, to use these approaches to better understand learning and create new knowledge in precision machine systems. In the pursuit of such new knowledge from our research goals, we will choose potential students from not only the in-house university but also the international students and organize working groups with in-house and outside excellent collaborators.

How to Apply

PEL invites applications from two highly motivated graduates seeking to undertake a PhD to work with Dr. ChaBum Lee on NSF projects related to surface topography characterization for sensing technology and cutting tool damage detection based on laser interferometer. Also, we will encourage international students to apply for the positions. Final candidates will be noticed for the detailed application process. Out of campus candidates can contact me via email (clee@tntech.edu). Applicants should hold a master degree in a field of mechanical engineering, mechatronics, manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, or optical engineering. GRE and Toefl (or other English test records) have to be ready for application.

Position Category: Engineering. Position Type: PhD Program. Salary: €10'000 - €20'000.
