The research group “Fluid Dynamics of Complex Biosystems” (FDCB) headed by Prof. Dr. Natalie Germann has an open position in the field of CFD.
Area of research
The research of Professor Germann’s fluid dynamics group focuses on the rheology of viscoelastic fluids that are of industrial relevance (e.g. wormlike micelles, polymer and biopolymer solutions). The reason for the unusual rheological properties of viscoelastic fluids is their microstructural dynamics. To establish a more fundamental understanding of viscoelastic fluids, her research group investigates the relationship between their rheology and their microstructure. The research approach combines thermodynamic modeling and numerical simulation with laboratory experiments. More information about the FDCB group can be found at http://germann.wzw.tum.de/.
Your project
The aim of this project is to build a CFD toolbox that can predict the quality of dough already during dough processing. For the validation of the CFD toolbox, experimental data will be provided.
Your profile
We are looking for talented individuals who are excited about research and innovation. The applicant should have good communication skills and be able to cooperate with an interdisciplinary team of researchers. He/she should hold a PhD/Master degree in computational engineering (or a related field) and have expertise in computational rheology. Fluency in both written and spoken English are required. So that he/she can actively participate in the teaching and project activities of the FDCB group, professional German language skills are essential.
