Position Description

Our Laboratory for High Performance Ceramics has an immediate opening for a PhD student in the field of Electronic Structure and Transport Properties of Dye Sensitized Solar Cells.

This is a three year Project funded by the Korean-Swiss Science and Technology Programme in collaboration with the University of Basel and with GIST, the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology.
The project title is “Molecular and physical aspects of dye sensitization of photoelectrodes with copper-based sensitizer molecules”.
You will have to synthesize sensitizer molecules and attach them to photoelectrodes carry out photoelectrochemical and electrocatalytic studies on electrode assemblies carry out x-ray and electron spectroscopy studies at synchrotron centers combine the Physics and Chemistry learnt from these studies into the PhD thesis.
For a successful PhD thesis in this multidisciplinary project, you need the necessary intellectual synthesis skills.
We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious, self driven and hands-on experimentalist with a sound theoretical background in condensed matter physics, electrochemistry or physical chemistry and the necessary mathematics and have a keen interest in a future academic career.
