Position Description

The Heterogeneous Computing Laboratory in the School of Computer Science at University College Dublin (UCD) is seeking suitable PhD candidates.
These positions are funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) as part of an SFI Investigator grant to conduct a research programme “Meeting the Future Challenges of Heterogeneous and Extreme-Scale Parallel Computing”. The project aims to address the most challenging issues of parallel computing on modern heterogeneous and hybrid compute nodes, complex large-scale heterogeneous clusters, and extreme-scale platforms. It focuses on the models, algorithms, methods, software tools, systems and development practices which will facilitate improved utilisation of the modern and perspective hardware platforms.
The successful PhD candidate will have a 1st Class honours degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. A Master degree and strong mathematical skills will be an advantage. Ideally, they should be proficient in C programming and should have a working knowledge of parallel computing concepts. Their interests should lie in the software/hardware interface.
