for a period of 36 months. The salary for the Ph.D. position is based on the German federal public service scale (E 13 TV-L). The regular weekly working hours amount to 65 % of a full-time position (currently 25,155 hours). The PhD student will be associated to the Research Unit 2518; DYNION.
Project description:
The research group is located at the Institute of Physiology, Medical Faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel and is focusing on the regulation and gating of K+ ion channels, to improve the understanding of structure-function relationships and underlying mechanisms of pharmacological action. In her/his project, the PhD candidate will work on the pharmacology and the underlying gating mechanisms in homodimeric and heterodimeric K+ ion channels. Besides standard molecular biology, biochemical and fluorescence based methods, research involves primarily electrophysiological techniques. The PhD candidate will benefit of the close interactions of different groups within the research unit 2518 (DYNION), especially by becoming acquainted with professional expertise in structure biology, biophysics, cell biology, physiology and computational biomolecular dynamics.
