Anywhere
18 Nov 2024

NOTE: this position listing has expired and may no longer be relevant!

Position Description

The PhD project includes three classes of materials to be studied by NMR: (1) Structure elucidation of new organic synthesis products by 2D NMR spectroscopy; (2) Variable temperature NMR studies of supramolecular systems for reaction and complexation kinetics and NMR experiments for complexation binding strengths and conformations; (3) Studies of inorganic salts and their complexation with chiral and achiral fullerenes to obtain their structures and formation rates. The PhD student will work on all of the above topics.

The duties will also include supervising BA and MSc students.

For further information, please visit the institute’s home page and the links within:

Inquiries about the position can be made to Jasper Adamson, jasper.adamson@kbfi.ee
The position is open from February, 2021. The position is lasting for 4 years.

Terms of employment
The position is funded by the European Research and Development Fund, through the grant TK134.
The scholarship and a salary will result in a net income of €1,400 and full health and social insurance.

The host institution, NICPB, has a fully equipped organic synthesis laboratory to carry out the organic reactions; 500 and 800 MHz solution NMR spectrometers for characterization of the structures of the synthesis products and for determining complexation properties; GC-MS and HPLC capacity. We work closely with the Tallinn University of Technology, where we would have access to HRMS facilities.
