The Metrology Research Institute at Aalto University, Finland, is searching for a PhD student to develop new environmental measurement technology targeting real-time characterisation of microplastic particles in lakes, rivers and oceans. Such new measurement technology is acutely needed to study the impact of plastic littering and the subsequent formation of microplastics under environmental conditions on wildlife, marine fish stock and human population.
We expect the applicant to have a solid academic background in at least one of the following fields: optics and photonics, measurement science and technology, engineering physics or electronics.
