Position Description


The Call is for 6 PhD scholarships: 5 funded by the University of Trento and 1 by EURAC Research, European Academy of Bolzano (link http://www.eurac.edu).
The scholarships are adequate to cover living expenses in Trento; no tuition fees are charged. 50% increase is given during research periods abroad.

The PhD Programme, entirely in English, is characterized by a strong multidisciplinary approach, focusing on the study of complex international phenomena, which can often be understood only with the support of various, interconnected disciplines.
The three-year programme entails methodological and multidisciplinary courses, an Academic Writing programme, seminars by professors invited by the School of International Studies, and individual research.

The main requirements to send an application are high level of English language competency (at least C1), outstanding CV and a proposal to conduct research on an original topic related to international studies.

Research activities and projects at the SIS (link: http://www.sis.unitn.it/159/research-at-the-sis) revolve around three main topics:
– the social, political, legal and economic implications of a globally interconnected world;
– international relations and security, and their interaction with technology and innovation;
– the tensions between integration and disintegration in Europe.
The scholarship from EURAC Research is tied to ‘Cross-Border Co-operation, Sub-National Entities and Multi-Level Governance’ (link http://www.unitn.it/drsis/node/162).
