Position Description

Project title : Mechanistic-empirical design and damage analysis of pavements in cold regions

The project aims at developing a detailed pavement design method adapted to Canadian climatic conditions by integrating efficient seasonal variation functions and by implementing transfer functions for pavements in cold climates. The specific objectives of the project are :

– To develop mechanistic functions for the seasonal variations of soils and pavement materials properties to be used for seasonal pavement damage analysis;
-To develop empirical transfer functions adapted to pavements in cold regions using available pavement performance database and Laval University full-scale heavy vehicle simulator;
