PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Recent progress in optical fibers and photonic crystal fibers continue to provide new scientific insights and real-life applications in many fields. The open project is for one PhD student who will investigate new fibers and methods for the remote monitoring of biomedical and environmental conditions towards commercial applications with the collaboration of a Canadian industry partner. The research will be performed within the department of electrical engineering at the Ecole de Technologie Supérieure (ETS, http://en.etsmtl.ca), a dynamic and rapidly growing engineering-only university located in the vibrant city of Montreal, Canada (http://www.375mtl.com/en/).
Our group is committed to achieving research results in a timely manner, which sometimes require a team effort. We therefore seek a highly motivated individual who will work on his/her own project, but is also open to contribute to fellow teammates’ progress.
The ideal candidate should have a Master degree (or equivalent) in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or physics (engineering). Wet lab skills and optical laboratory experience are both assets. Proficiency in English (oral and writing) is required; knowledge of French is an asset. This fully-funded position is expected to start in the summer of 2016.
