In the framework of the International Graduate School of Science and Engineering of Technische Universität München, a PhD position is available.
The focus of the project is better understanding of the properties of electrified interfaces, which define the resulting performance (activity, selectivity, stability) of electrocatalytic systems. Experimental work will include preparation, modification and in-depth characterization of nanostructured electrode materials. The project is a collaborative project (http://www.igsse.tum.de/research/project/1101-activeelectrocat/team.html) with the group of Prof. Hubert Gasteiger at the Department of Chemistry TUM.
The scholarship and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years. The approximate starting date is the 1st of July 2017, or soon after this date.
Requirements: You have your Master degree in either Physics, Chemistry, Material science or equivalent. Knowledge in the field of preparation and electrochemical characterization of electrode materials, is beneficial but not an absolute necessity. Experience in synthesis of metal nanoparticles is an advantage. The candidate should have excellent spoken and written English skills.
