Two doctoral positions are currently available in the group of Professor Maksim Skorobogatiy at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal (Engineering School of the University of Montreal) Canada. These positions come with a full financial support and offer a large number of career growth opportunities. The group specializes in research on wireless ultra-fast telecommunication technologies and nondestructive sensing using terahertz waves. The two PhD positions are sponsored by the prestigious Canada Research Chair Tier 1 program of which Prof. Skorobogatiy is a holder.
PhD candidates will conduct research on the two of the following topics. One is the development of wireless ultra-high bitrate telecommunication systems using terahertz waves. Another is the development of nondestructive 3d imaging systems for monitoring and imaging of opaque objects. The research group has a strong motivation for commercialization of the developed technologies and is currently pursuing multiple intellectual property protection and commercialization opportunities. Students in the group are encouraged to published in the top scientific journals, to participate in the international conferences, as well as to create companies pursuing commercialization of the developed research ideas.
Candidates wishing to apply must have a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in physics or electrical engineering as well as an in-depth experience in optics. Working languages in the group are English or French, therefore, candidates have to be proficient in one of these two languages. Ability to write in English is a must.
