PhD Position in Mathematical Elasticity or Geometric Analysis

The Chair for Partial Differential Equations at TU Dresden offers one PhD position under the immediate supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter Hornung.

Requirements: Candidates should have a solid background in partial differential equations or the calculus of variations. An excellent Master’s degree in Mathematics or Physics is required.

Starting date: The starting date is flexible, but should preferably lie between 1 May and 1 November 2015. The appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of extension.

Funding: The position is funded by the Emmy Noether programme of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. The salary is TV-L E13 (75%). After deduction of taxes, pension payments and health insurance this usually amounts to around 1500 Euros per month. The position carries no teaching duties, but teaching opportunities can be offered.

Graduate School: The Mathematics Department of the TU Dresden offers broad training in several areas of Mathematics.
