Position Description


POSITION: A Ph.D. student position is available for Fall 2016 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette within the Department of Civil Engineering. Highly motivated individual is sought to work on multidisciplinary research looking at applications of advanced sustainable materials in civil infrastructure. Background in materials science, mechanics of materials, structural engineering and finite element modeling is strongly desired. Master’s degree is preferred, but not necessary.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is located on a 137 acre residential campus in Lafayette. The University athletic complex sits on 243 acres, while the University Research Park sits on an additional 148 acres. The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers programs that include the B.S. in Civil Engineering, the M.S. in Civil Engineering and the Ph.D. in Civil Engineering Systems. The UL Civil Engineering Department is actively enhancing its structural engineering laboratories and testing facilities. Reconfiguration and refurbishing of the materials testing lab is in progress. Large scale tests within a high-bay lab facility with a strong floor and strong wall are planned for the near future.
