Position Description

Apply now to join our PhD program in the life sciences. The special feature of our program is its emphasis on interdisciplinary interactions. We want to train the next generation of scientists to study complex biological processes that cannot be adequately understood within the limits of a single discipline. Research fields covered include:

• Biophysics
• Biochemistry and structural biology
• Bioinformatics and computational biology
• Molecular and cellular biology
• Developmental biology and genetics
• Genomics and proteomics
• Microbiology and microbiome science
• Evolutionary biology and ecology
Training is offered in a range of core and specialised skills; a thesis advisory committee provides individual project guidance. English is the language of the school; places are fully funded.

We seek applicants who expect to hold an excellent degree in natural or computer science at Masters level by September 2020. You should possess skills and knowledge matching to your intended area of research, plus a high level of motivation. Applicants with degrees obtained outside the European Higher Education Area should supply scores from the GRE General Test.
The International Max Planck Research School IMPRS “From Molecules to Organisms” program is offered by the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in conjunction with the Friedrich Miescher Laboratory and the Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen, Germany.
Apply online from January 1. Application deadline: February 29, 2020
