Position Description

Job Description
A position for a graduate research assistant at a PhD studies level is available at the University of Idaho in Idaho Falls. The research focus is on implementation of machine learning for modeling sequential time-series data with applications in biomedical science and robotics. Aspects of the research project include modeling generic human movements, probabilistic modeling and density estimation in sequential data, adversarial models for data augmentation and classification. The project explores the potential by recent advances in deep neural networks for sequential data representation at multiple levels of abstraction, and studies network architectures for human motion modeling that improve the state-of-the-art. Specific applications include: monitoring and evaluation of patient performance during physical rehabilitation sessions, and transferring skills to robots from human demonstrations by generalization from multiple skill examples.

A full PhD scholarship according to the general conditions at the University of Idaho is offered. The scholarship includes paid tuition fees and a research assistantship salary (based on university’s recommendations for Cost of Attendance).
