Position Description

Our research group at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Lübeck, is looking for a PhD student.
The blood-brain barrier is damaged in many neurological diseases. Inflammatory mediators open the barrier, but it is unclear how the barrier is closed once the inflammation subsides. In our previous studies we have observed that the proinflammatory transcription factor NF-κB regulates the barrier tightness (J Exp Med 212:1529-1549, EMBO Mol Med 8: 609-625). Now we would like to define the mechanism by which NF-κB modulates the barrier function.
We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist who holds a degree in biology, biochemistry, medicine, or related subjects. A background in molecular biology or translation research would be helpful.
The salary will be paid according TV-L, E13, 65 %. The position is initially limited for 3 years.
The university seeks for a balance between male and female employees. Therefore women with the same suitability, ability and technical achievement will be hired preferred. The university also strives for the employment of severly handicapped persons. Severly handicapped persons will be preferred for the same qualification set.
