Position Description


RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT
Industrial Research Chair on Ecoresponsabile wood-construction (CIRCERB) – The student will conduct an innovative research project through the CIRCERB, at Laval University. This Research Chair, which will bring together 50 or so students within the next 5 years, aims to promote the optimized design, construction, and operation of wood buildings.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project aims to develop a methodology for the design of high performance wood buildings based on multi-criteria. Building simulation tools will be used to support the multi-objective optimization strategy, which will consider construction, operation and deconstruction phases. Energy, water and carbon balance sheets will be optimized for the life cycle of the building. The critical design elements will be used to help designers, building operators and legislators make decision based on the reduction of the environmental footprint of buildings.

REQUIREMENTS
Possess a Masters degree in a field relevant to Building Science, be admissible at the doctorate level at Laval University, knowledge of French

TERMS
A yearly salary of 21 000 $ CAN is provided. Funding is for 3 years.
An additional 2 500 $ CAN per year is provided by the Department.
Students who obtain a bursary for academic excellence (ex. CRSNG, FRQNT, etc) will receive a bursary supplement of 5 000 $ CAN.
